By Authority of the King's Royal Patent
Dr.Bateman's Pectoral Drops, prepared by Dicey and Okell, in Bow-Churchyard, London, which, for more than 50 years have been universally known to be safest and surest Relief in the most acute Rheumatism, pains in the Brest, Limbs, and Joints, Fluxes and Agues, slow and latent fevers (preferable to any powders & new inventions, &c) a single dose remarkably stops the progress of a cold and certainly prevents the ill consequences arising from that very common disorder, the Forerunner to most distempers. They are also very serviceable in many other diseases, which will appear in the Book of their Virtues and Cures,(which are innumerable) to be borrowed at every true Vender's. - - - -
There's scarcely a Village in the Kingdom but there are instances of Cures by the above Drops; which are the most certain safe and cheapest Remedy for the Rheumatism, Sciatics, &c., and hath cured great numbers afflicted with the Fever which hath long raged so violently. Also Agues &c., if a Dose be taken on the first Symptoms of a Fit coming on; drinking plentifully of warm white wine Whey &c going to Bed. Lay alone and keep warm twenty four hours. - Where may be had, Under the Sanction of the King's Patent, Dr.Hooper's Pills, Dr.Anderson's true Scot's Pills 1s. Dr.Ratchiff's purging Elixir 1s. Dr.France's Female Elixir 1s. 6d. Dr.Chase's Balsamic Pills or Coughs &c. 2s. Bateman's Golden Spirits of Scury-grass, 1s. True Eau de luce in 1s.6d. and 3s. Bottles, Schwanberg's Liquid Shell 1s.6d. Issue Plaisters that will stick without filleting 1s. Court Plaister at 6d. The Original Godfrey's Cordial 6dr. Genuine Hungary Water. Double destilled Lavender Water &c.

Conditions
1.The Work is neatly printed on a fine Paper and will not exceed One Hundred Numbers, making Ten Handsome Volumes in Octavo.
II. Each Number will contain at least Three Sheets of Letter Press, exclusive of the Plates.
III. In the Course of the Publication, many Maps, and Copper-Plates necessary to elucidate the Work, will be given to the Subscribers.
IV. Number I. containing Four Sheets and a Half of Letter Press, an elegant Frontispiece, designed by Wale, and engraved by Grignon, and a Map of the World, will be published on Saturday the 25th of June 1768, and the succeeding Numbers in their proper Order weekly.
V. A great part of the Work being already Printed, may be seen at the Publishers.
To the Public
In this frivolous age, when the powers of the understanding are all unbraced by idleness, and the mind (as it were) overborne by tides of vanity and dissipation, it requires some address to reclaim the attention of subjects of real utility, and to render the voice of instruction agreeable to the votaries of pleasure: for to exercise the faculties - - - blah blah blah for ages.
