A wedding of local interest took place at the First Church, Tay Street, Invercargill on August 10, when Ruby Irene Wright, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E.W. Wright, of 106 Yarrow Street, Invercargill, was married to Mr Archibald Ronald, also of Invercargill.
The Reverend Robinson officiated
The bridge, who was given away by her father, wore a model frock of French nude crepe-de-chene with shoes and hat to tone.
Miss Mable Wright attended her sister as bridesmaid wearing a frock of maize crepe-de-chene wiht shoes and stockings to tone.
Miss Margery Henderson, of Gore, niece of the bride, acted as flower girl. Her frock was a shell pink georgette over crepe-de-chene. She wore shoes and a satin cape of the same shade.
The breakfast was held at the Floral Tea Rooms, the bride's mother and Mrs C. Robertson, sister ofthe bridgegroom, receiving the guests.
The church was prettily decorated by Mrs Frank Wright, sister-in-law of the bride.
Mrs N.J. Brodenshire presided at the organ.
Mr and Mrs Ronald left for their honeymoon in Christchurch, the bride travelling in a biege frock, amethyst coat and hat to tone.
Prior to her marriage the bride was entertained by a number of her girl friends at a bath room shower, kitchen evening, pantry evening and a work basket afternoon.
Mr David Pollok, F.R.S.S., F.C.I.S., managing director of the Dominion Investment and Banking Assocation, Auckland, is on a brief visit to Invercargill. Mr Pollok recently returned from a twelve months' tour of the world, during which, in England, he obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Statistical Society. There are only fourothers in New Zealand who hold this degree. Mr Pollok is also attorney for New Zealand and Australia for the Legal and General Assurance Society Ltd., of London. Mr Pollok is the younger brother of the late Mr Robert Pollok, of Invercargill.

Eltham Party's Experiences
Following a brief visit (last June) to Tongariro National Park, Mr. H. Murray, Eltham, organised a party in conjunctiion wiht friends from Wanganui, to visit the district during the last Easter holidays. He was accompanied by Messrs M. and R. King and R. McWilliam, Eltham, and the party left Wanganui at 10 a.m. on the Friday travelling via the Parapara road. The weather was glorious and the road was in good order.
It was a delight to view the many panoramic scenes ofthe countryside being the wealth of colour of the poplar trees, which made a great picture set against the green hills. ... continues...
