Henry Fletcher (2nd Son) Miss Beatrix Hay - Sir Andrew Fletcher, Lord Innesfieffat - Lord of Session - Fletchers of Salton
Henry Fletcher was the second son of Andrew Fletcher, Lord Milton, Chief Justice Clerk for Scotland (1735-1748) and Keeper of the Signet (1746-1766). Henry succeeded to the family estate at Saltoun in Scotland on the death of his elder brother in 1779 and became 7th Laird of Saltoun. He was first commissioned Ensign in the Army in 1739. He joined the 35th Regiment of Foot as a Major in 1755 and became Colonel of the Regiment in 1764. He retained this office until his death in March 1803, when he was succeeded by Major-General Charles Lennox, soon to become 4th Duke of Richmond. During the Seven Years' War, Lieutenant-Colonel Fletcher commanded the Regiment at Louisburg and the Heights of Abraham (National Archives)
