Printed for J.Wilson and J.Fell in Pater-noster-Row, and sold by Mr.Fletcher at Oxford, Messrs.Fletcher and Hodson at Cambridge, Mr.Smith at Dublin, Messrs Gregory and Ireland in Leicester, Messrs Ward, Creswell, Heath, Burbage and Collyer in Nottingham, Messrs. Trimmer and Fox in Derby, Mr.Terry n Burton and Ashby, and by all the Booksellers in Great Britain and Ireland.
Conditions
I.The whole will be comprised of One Hundred Numbers, making Volumes in Folio
II. Each Number will contain 3 Sheets, printed on a new Letter and very fine paper.
III. With every other Number will be given an elegant Copper plate.
IV. Number I. will be published on the 31st of December next, and the succeeding Numbers in their proper Order, weekly, without interruption.
V. This History will be decorated with elegant Copper-plates, illustrating the most interesting and entertaining events recorded in the British annals; together with Portraits at full length, of all the Kings and Queens in the Habits of the Times; executed by that admired History Engraver, Mr.Grignion.
VI. To enable every person to form an opinion of the execution and masterly embellishments of this Work, Numbers I. and II. may be read gratis and returned if not approved.
To the Public
The author of this work finds himself under the disagreeable necessity of declaring as the only apology for offering a new History of England that he has examined those that of late years have been published, with the utmost care and attention, and has found that the editors have, by no means fulfilled their engagement with the public, having in many instances greatly deviated from the plan they proposed to execute.

There seeming to be no reason why the Press should teem abundantly the First of every Month with Literary Entertainment for the Public, and leave the rest of the month vacant, a Plan has been formed with is supposed will be agreeable to the Public, to give an useful and agreeable Literary Entertainment weekly. And on Saturday December the 14th will being to be published and continued every Saturday, by W.Owen at Temple Bar; and to be had of J.Gregory in Leicester; Messrs Burbage, Ward, Cresswell, Heath and Collyer in Nottingham; Mr.Fox, Timmer and Roe in Derby; Mr.Poole in Rinkley and all other Booksellers in Town and Country, Price Three-pence, printed on a find Paper, and each Number adorned with a Copper-plate engraved by a Masterly Manner;
The Weekly Amusement
Which will consist of Such choice Pieces of Pros and Poetry as are worthy of Notice, whether for Usefulness or Entertainment; and all New Improvements in Husbandry, Gardening, and every other Art or Science, &c.
