1. The Constitution of England - engraved by James Heath after Thomas Stothard R.A., - Frontispiece: J.L.deLolme - plate size 7 x 6cm - published by G.G.J. & J. Robinson. Oval print in two sizes depending on the edition. First published in 1784 with the smaller engraving, the work was reissued in 'A New Edition corrected' in 1789; there was at least one edition later, in 1816.

See Harrison's British Classics (1785) whose plates resemble these in style. Described as "The Seventh Edition," the plates are not the same as those which James Heath engraved for this work in Vol.VI. of the 'Novelist's Magazine.'

Dedicated to His Royal Highness, George, Prince of Wales. Such subjects of the British Empire, as are desirous of being fully informed of the glorious Actions of their renowned Ancestors, and of becoming possessed of the most Elegant, Genuine, Authentic, Impartial, Instructive, Faithful, Beautiful, Candid, Correct, Entertaining, New and Complete History of England ever yet published are earnestly requested to read, with Attention, the following Advertisement of -

From the Earliest Authentic Records, to the present very Important Crisis. - A Work executed on a more grand, extensive, and interesting Plan than any other hitherto published - containing not only every remarkable Event, collected from the best and most authentic Historians, relative to the Annals of Britain, but likewise many curious Anecdotes, important Discoveries, and interesting Occurrences which the Authors of this Work have obtained from Genuine Manuscripts in the Possession of a Nobleman eminent for his literary Knowledge, and other authentic Records, which have hitherto remained unknown to former Writers.
An Entire New, Authentic & Magnificent Work, To be completed in Sixty Numbers only, making one large Volume in Folio, elegantly printed on a new Type, and superfine Paper, and embellished with upwards of One Hundred and Twenty beautiful Engravings, taken from the Original Drawings of Messrs Metz, Stothard and Samuel Wale Esq., Members of the Royal Academy, and from the finest Paintings of those celebrated Masters, Vandyke, Holbein, Sir Godfrey Kneller &c. &c. These elegant Engravings (which are minutely and strikingly descriptive of the most remarkable Incidents that occur in the Course of the History) are all executed by those well-known Artists, Mess. Heath, Grignion, Walker, Taylor, Roberts, Chesham, Feulgal, Royce and Record; and the whole curiously decorated with Emblamatical Ornaments by the ingenious Mr.Clowes, and other celebrated artists.
On Saturday April 3, 1784, will be published,(Price only Six-pence) Containing three sheets of Letter press, beautifully printed in Crown Folio, and adorned with the following embellishments, viz.
1. An emblematical Frontispiece, designed by Merz, and engraved by Grignion.
2. A most incomparable Portrait of his Royal Highness George Prince of Wales, being a more striking Likeness of the Royal Personage than any that has yet appeared, drawn by Merz, and engraved by Heath.
3. Representation of Count de Graffe, the French Admiral resigning his Sword into the Hands of Lord Rodney, after being defeated by that gallant Commander in the West Indies,on the 12th of April1782.
