Chronicon Pretiosum: Or, an Account of English Gold and Silver Money; the Price of Corn and other Commodities; and of Stipends, Salaries, Wages, Jointures, Portions, Day-Labour, &c. in England for Six-hundred Years last past: Shewing from the Decrease of the Value of Money, and the Increase of the Value of Corn and other Commodities, &c. That a Fellow, who has an Estate in Land of Inheritance, or a perpetual Pension of Five Pounds per Annum, may conscienciously keep his Fellowship, and ought not to be compelled to leave the same, though the Statutes of the College (founded between the Years 1440 and 1460) did then vacate his Fellowship on such Condition.

The Translation by Several Hands.
This Work is not only of the highest Use and Instruction to those who learn the French Language, but likewise the most rational and entertaining Amusement to others.
The original Text, from which this Translation was done, is taken from the late grand Paris Edition, publish'd by that learned Editor Mr.La Serre, in Six Volumes, Quarto. An Edition so superior to any of the former, that it has given quite a new Face to the Author.
He has supplied the Place of the fabulous Life of the Author, and tedious Preface prefixed to former Editions, by faithful Memoirs of the Life of Moliere, and Historical Criticism of each of his Performances, which are prefix'd to the respective Plays, pointing out the Time of their Appearance, the Success they met with, and their several Merits.
