James Heath to the publisher F.J. due Roveray.
I have sent the pictures &c. as you desir'd. I will thank you to send the balance by bearer but that you should wish to deduct £1.5.0 after the loss I have already sustain'd in time, I own surprises me, and is what I cannot consent to. I had a hope that you would voluntarily have made me some compensation for the most unprofitable job I ever had in my life.

Dedicated by Permission of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
Lord Nelson's Life and Achievements.
The Public is respectfully informed that this National Work, brought forward under the immediate Patronage of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, will be founded on Documents communicated by Earl Nelson, and other branches of this distinguished Family, to the Rev.J.S.Clarke, Librarian to his Royal Highness, and from an highly interesting Memoir in the late Noble Admiral's Hand Writing (of which a Fac-Simile will be given), sent by him to John McArthur Esq., who also possesses a Variety of other interesting MSS received from confidential friends of the deceased Hero, and from Officers of Rank who served with him.
This junction of two separate Collections of Documents has been arranged under the Auspices and at the express Recommendation of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, and will enable the Editors to offer to the Public a most ample Detail of the singular Vicissitudes of Lord Nelson's Life, and a connected and faithful Narrative of the various Circumstances which can throw Light on his Character and Services.
The Gentlemen who had undertaken a similar Work, under the Sanction of Earl Nelson, and had made some Progress in it, has desisted, from Motives of Respect.
The Embellishments will consist of a Variety of elegant Engravings, viz. Historical Designs, Portraits, Plans and Views of Battles, and Vignette, from original Paintings by Benjamin West Esq., R.A., the late Mr.Abbot, Richard Westall R.A., and Nicholas Pocock, Esquires engraved by James Heath Esq., Historical Engraver to his Majesty, Mr.Fittler, and other eminent artists.
It is hoped that the work may be ready for publication early in the ensuing Year, in one Quarto Volume of the largest size, printed by Bentley, on the finest Elephant Drawing Paper.
The number of Copies to be printed, shall wholly depend upon the Number of good Impressions than can be taken of the Engravings; and it is therefore recommended to such of the Nobility and Gentry, as are anxious for the best Impressions, to send early Notice to the Publishers, Messrs Cadell and Davies, Strand; and Mr.Miller, Albermarle Street.
The price of such Copies, as are ordered before the First of July next, will be Five Guineas; or with Proof Impressions of the Plates, Seven Guineas; and the Money may be paid either on giving the order, or on delivery of the Work. After which time the prices will be advanced.
