Plays, as performed at the Theatre Royal. Two plates engraved by Charles Heath (drawn by 1807) after Henry Howard R.A. Published by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown. Published in 8 volumes between 1800-07. Contains an early plate by Charles Heath, 1807, in his catalogue. For another use of 'Why do you cry?' see 1809. The Quarterly Review of February 1809 also lists, by Mrs Inchbald. "The British Theatre, or, a collection of Plays acted at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, Covent Garden and the Haymarket' published in 25 volumes at 6 guineas , and due to be available in May 1809; this may have been intended as an enlargement of the earlier edition, but it is not clear whether any more Heath engravings were made for it.
An earlier prospectus issued by Longmans in 1807 referred to the publication (presumably as a re-issue) of a 'New British Theatre' edited by Mrs.Inchbald in 25 volumes, of which the first instalments, 'The Mountaineers,' would appear on 15 February, priced at 1/- or 2/- with proof illustrations.

The Holy Bible. - Engravings by James Heath after P.J.de Loutherbourg R.A., Thomas Stothard R.A. 42 plates, various sizes, published by Thomas Macklin. Macklin's Bible went through many editions and variations; the main edition appeared on 20 October 1800 but with plates taken from earlier editions. New editions continued to appear until 1816.
Vol.II. 'Ruth gleaning' is captioned 'Published May 12 1792' 'designed for Macklin's Bible;' the copy in the Witt Collection is inscribed 'W.Ready,' not 'James Heath.'
There are two Charles Heath plates in Vol.VII (1813) in Charles Heath's catalogue.

Oval in stipple 'Engraved by Jas.Heath from a portrait by Raeburn' 'Publ.,July 1 1800.' Monro was a well-known Professor of Anatomy at Edinburgh University, and his son was a friend and admirer of James Heath.

This plate re-appeared without attribution in Dr.Black's Lectures on the Elements of Chemistry' as the frontispiece to Vol. I, published by 'Longman and Rees' Edinburgh 1803.

Separate print - Plate, size 50 x 33, engraved by James Heath after Gilbert Stuart, 'George Washington,' published by James Heath, Boydell and E.P. Thompson. - Dated 'Feb. 1, 1800,' the inscription reads 'Historical Engraver to His Majesty and to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales.' The painter is erroneous described a'Gabriel Stuart.' This is the portrait commissioned by the Marquis of Lansdowne, now in the White House in Washington. A 'first impression'was published by James Heath on October 12, 1797. from 42 Newman St, with G.G.J. and J. Robinson of Paternoster Row as co-publishers. The finished engravings in 1800 were almost all sent to the United States, where Washington had just died.
